DTCA Members United On Major Development Issue
Davis Homes Seeks a Miracle on 64th Street
|
April 3, 2001 - The dominate topic at the DTCA semi-annual members' meeting, held on March 29 at the JCC, was the proposed development by Davis Homes of the church property south of our sub-division along Oakwood Trails.
After a detailed PowerPoint ® presentation by Jeff Pitts, DTCA president, and a lengthy Q & A period moderated by the Delaware Trails negotiating committee of David Kirch, Scott Dennison, Mary Ann Nowlin and Ken Zweigel, the membership made their
virtually-unanimous position known by a show of hands. No public access to Munsee. No way. No how.
Second Public Access Key Issue
Though Davis Homes is willing to lower the development density to alleviate the need for a second public access to the proposed development, the Crooked Creek Community Council (C4), represented by Cary Manders, insists that it will oppose any proposal that does not include a second access that is not on Grandview Drive, which they feel cannot handle all of the eventual new traffic in and out of the proposed sub-division .
As a result, Brad Davis of Davis Homes has vowed to try every possible means to find access to 64th Street. Unfortunately, a key landowner on 64th has so far been unwilling to sell any land for development.
Where To From Here?
As of today, all parties concerned are praying for a miracle that will allow the issue of access to Munsee, emergency or otherwise, to magically disappear. To that end, phone calls are being made; discussions are taking place.
Obviously, a considerable amount of negotiation needs to be completed before this issue is settled. Stay tuned for further details as they make themselves known.
