Delaware Trails Neighborhood Association Meeting
September 12, 2000
Minutes of said
meeting:
1>
The minutes from
previous meeting were read. Motion to
accept made, seconded and carried.
2>
Jeff Pitts opened
the meeting by listing the four guiding goals accepted by the Board. These goals came from the survey results and
governed all activities. a) a safe and secure neighborhood
b)
a well kept, nice
looking neighborhood
c)
a sense of community
in the neighborhood
d)
a neighborhood that
functions well (infrastructure)
3>
An informal
discussion followed regarding lighting in the neighborhood. It was agreed that there were significant
“dark spots” in the area and more light was desired.
4>
Pitts proceeded to
share an analysis of a 60w, 69w commercial and 15w compact fluor lights. We should all consider replacing current
lamp post lights with 15w compact flour and are all encouraged to burn them ALL
NIGHT.
5>
Operation Night
Light will consist of the following two actions:
a)
The Board will get
specifics regarding installing a new streetlight at the end of Oakwood.
b)
The Board will move
ahead with program to educate/encourage neighborhood on the economics and
safety issues connected with keeping private lampposts lit all night.
6>
The group discussed
the front entrance beautification project.
The stone and evergreens are in; most work to be done in the
spring. Opinion voiced was very
positive.
7>
It was announced
that another “clean up” dumpster will be in place on September 23rd. (at the end of Alimingo) Please use it, but load carefully. Like the luggage in your trunk on vacation.
8>
The Board was not
successful in obtaining a leaf vacuuming service for this Fall. Suggestions were made from the floor and
another attempt will be made next year.
9>
Our Fall social
event will be held October 15th.
Pie Fest is coming! Details to
follow.
10>
Randy Riley
presented a thorough Treasurer’s Report.
(see attached) Everyone was
pleased with the collection efforts and successes as well as the responsibility
shown with the funds.
11>
Riley’s report
sparked a discussion of the current level of Association dues. Pitts showed a history of what dues amounts
have been and the have not been raised since sometime between 1987 and
1993. Given that time frame, inflation
alone would raise us to $28.
12>
The Board stated
that in order to continue to have social functions, to continue to provide
services such as entrance lights, plantings, dumpsters for large items and snow removal, dues
would have to go up. The question is
how much.
13>
The amounts of $30
and $35 per year were discussed.
Although $35 was recognized as the more appropriate amount, there was a
feeling that the jump from $20 to $30 might be too large in one step. It was voted that the dues go up to $30 for
2001 and an opportunity be available for those who wish to pay $35.
14>
Elections were held
for the four Board positions available and the following people were elected: Andy Richardson (?)
David
Lumley
Stacy
Elkin
Mary
Ann Nowlin
15>
Various neighbors
asked that the newsletter restate leash policy for pets. Hopefully this reminder will encourage
everyone to be responsible for their pets and their actions.
16>
Meeting was
adjourned at 9:10 pm.
Respectfully
submitted,
Bob Stedron
Secretary
